There’s a certain type of person who wants everyone to know exactly what team they support, and there’s a quieter type who’d rather you just noticed the build quality first and asked questions later. This one’s built squarely for the second type, all the same engineering underneath, none of the shouting about it on the outside.
Stealth mode isn’t just marketing language here either, the finish genuinely does the class-leading design more favours than the papaya ever could, letting the actual shape and proportions of the thing do the talking instead of the colour doing it for them. Sometimes the loudest way to make a point is to stop making noise entirely.
Underneath the black, it’s the exact same story as the rest of the range, no suspension, and somehow none of the drama that usually comes with skipping it, thanks to Pure Control Steering Stabilisation and a chassis that’s clearly been engineered rather than assumed. 924W through a 16.2kg frame is still a slightly unreasonable amount of shove for something you fold up and carry.
19% hill gradient, IP65 rated, folding handlebars that get it down to a fraction of its unfolded size, the black finish doesn’t change any of the substance, it just stops the substance from having to compete with the colour for attention.
There’s something quietly confident about choosing the black over the papaya, less “look at this,” more “you’ll work it out eventually.” Pure’s own words put it well enough, this is genuinely the ride of choice in the F1 paddock, and it’s not hard to see why once you’ve actually looked at what’s under the finish.
This isn’t the version built to turn heads from across the car park, it’s the one built for people who’d rather the scooter did the impressing quietly, on its own terms, without asking anyone to notice first.
